Marine Life Eco Tour - 9 am, 11 am, 2 pm & 4 pm

The Reef Sub Marine Life Eco Tours operates from Avatiu Harbour daily (weather dependent).  Avatiu Harbour is 5 minutes walk west from Pununga Nui Markets, Avarua. Bookings are essential for the 9 am and 4 pm tours.   Please try to be at the boat 10 minutes prior to departure.

Tour highlights:

Watch as the mighty Giant Trevally surround the boat to be fed fish scraps.  See them jump and charge after the food, then follow along looking in the windows at our downstairs guests.

Visit the amazing centuary old shipwreck - RMS Maitai.  At 103 Meters long you will be surprised at how much of her remains on the floor of the reef.  Be enthralled by her incredible back story.

See the regeneration of the coral in the coral gardens.  In 2005 Rarotonga lost a great deal of of her coral to cyclones.  The sub gets up close and personal with a gorgous low lying coral head, full of beautiful colours and tropical fish.

Go deeper, out to the dive buoys and explore the surrounding rocks in search of sharks and other large critters that hang out in the deeper waters.

In whale season you may be lucky enough to get up close and personal with a gentle humpback whale.  It's not unusual to have a whale pop up along side the boat, and they love to look in the windows.

For those that prefer not to go downstairs there are four seat positions upstairs that allow for angled window viewing.

Our tour lasts one and a quarter hours.  We operate rain or shine.  The only thing that can thwart us is the wind and tropical downpours.

 Adult $69

Book a Charter

Here with a group of friends/family - why not book a charter?  It's a great option.  The boat is yours for the duration of the trip.   Sunset/BYO cruises can be done by arrangement.  A very economical way to enjoy the tour.

We can take up to 16 people - more if there are children.  Imagine the fun you can have!
